And now for something completely different

CPE day one is done. Things went well. Saw this on The Daily Dish and thought I'd share it.

Enough Already

I do not always agree with Keith Olbermann. I think he tries to hard to be an anti-O'Reilly. I miss the glory days of Sportscenter's "Big Show" with Dan Patrick and Keith. They could make the most boring day of sports exciting. While Olbermann occasionally goes into Sportscenter mode with the news, you can never doubt his passion. Especially yesterday (May 23). In response to Hillary's "mis-statement," I think Olbermann didn't go far enough. The problem I have with her candidacy is that I thought there would be no depth to which she wouldn't go. She, and Bubba, feel the Presidency is her right, for not kicking his cheating ass to the curb in public. (I'd have loved to see her throwing his suits onto the White House lawn.) She ran a renomination campaign, underestimated the number of people who do not trust her, and gave a Cinderella story, a former greenskeeper community organizer about to become the Masters champion Democratic nominee a ch

The Nice Thing ...

Good News - Mom's home, feeling better & getting around on her own. I've actually had to yell at her to slow down. Good News - I'm driving back to the 'burg on Sunday & starting CPE later in the week. Good News - A crisis lets you know who your friends are and who you can count on. And who you can't.

Update from America's High Five

Sorry about the last rant. I should learn to type, save, reflect and THEN post. Mom's doing better. Should go home today or tomorrow, and doesn't need any further procedure. I'm off to the Synod Assembly to rubber stamp & meet people. Should be back in the G'burg for Memorial Day & CPE.

Monday Morning Quarterbacks

Let me start by saying my mom's doing better. She's been hospitalized with double pneumonia. She feels, sounds and looks a lot better than when I got back. She's waiting to get out of the hospital. To all the LTS people who heard & sent prayers, thanks. Bon Jovi - It's My Life When I was coaching football, one of my pet peeves were the "experts" who would sit in the stands and second guess everything the coaches did. Why'd you play this kid? Why did you call that play? The 'experts' whose experience was getting run off their JV team and yelling at the TV on Saturdays and Sundays had no idea what we were trying to do and what kids knew how to do what. With running youth sports on Saturdays, I dreaded a poor Friday performance, because I would hear from people who can't teach 4th graders to line up for free throws tell me why we should throw deep routes on 3rd & 1. When we converted the first down. This hasn't been an easy year for m

Late Nite Cross Country Run

I'm back in Michigan, having to make an overnite drive back from Gettysburg. My mom's was put in the hospital with double pneumonia (over-achiever!). So as soon as the Graduation & Eucharist was done, I loaded up the Saturn and drove the turnpikes back to America's High Five. Mom's doing ok, taking breating treatments and antibiotics. Good thing it was Finals week so I was used to pulling an all-nighter. The one bright spot. The hospital has wi-fi internet access. Didn't get to say good bye to as many people as I wanted to, so I'll be shooting emails out. But to any 'burgers who are lurking, I just want to say thank you for making a difficult year a lot less difficult. I want to thank everyone for checking in on me, and keeping an eye on me. I want to thank the people who shared a piece of their souls to let me know I was not in this alone. Y'know, the way people were looking out for me, you think they want to be pastors or something for God's s

Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away

Willie Nelson - How Time Slips Away It seems like it was only yesterday. Today ended the Spring Semester here at THE LTS. I awoke this morning with no paper to write. No reading to color , err highlight. After 3 weeks of big project followed by big project followed by test, it is over. I've got a couple of weeks to go back to America's High Five, the Great Lakes state of Michigan. I'll be back here to Penna before Memorial Day, having to miss the Highland Festival. I'll be doing CPE around here, and will get a brief reprieve to come back to mid-Michigan in early August before coming back here for Year Two. We had a class picnic today, and I realized I'm gonna miss these people who have become a second family in the past 270 days. I realized I didn't get a chance to know them as well as I'd hoped this winter, and they didn't get to know me, because I didn't come out of my shell of hurt until the past week or so. Realizing this room that I hated in Aug

The Cost of Doing Business

So, How's That Working Out?

Just a Steeltown Girl

If after a pre-chapel discussion didn't lead L&G to know this was coming, Sorry. One week to go, four projects. Off to the chapel to play an apostle.
