A Prayer for Today

How strange! Any plant knows to grow toward the light. Why then, Lord, do I so often pull the covers over my head? What am I afraid of? Faithlessness? Fraud? Naked old Adam weakness? Lord, bare your arm. Show your muscle and help me be part of your strong grace today.
Lord, thank you for closing the distance between my stubborn heart and its deliverence. You know my heart says "mine, mine, mine, a little for you, then mine again for a long time." I am greedy and self-righteous about it. Make me yours, speaking Your Yes to the world: "Here, how can I help?"
Amen.
