Team Jesus

This comes from Team FCA's Daily Impact Play devotional email. You can sign up here . READY: "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." -Luke 19:10 (KJV) SET: The NFL Draft is coming up in April. This year, the experts say that the number one pick will be either Arkansas' Darren McFadden or LSU’s Glenn Dorsey. Could you imagine being the number one pick? Well, surprise… You are! You are a top recruit! God is recruiting you for His team, but the enemy is trying his best to keep you from joining "TEAM JESUS." Psalm 51:5 says that we were born in sin and shaped in iniquity (or evil). That means that we have to make a decision to join God's team. If we leave this world without accepting Christ, we cannot enter His Kingdom. The Bible tells us that God wants us to be a part of that Kingdom. He has our jersey and our hat, and He is waiting for us to shake His hand and accept the terms of His contract. He's recruiting each of us ...

FCA Impact Play: "A Mighty Fortress"

READY : "But the LORD is my fortress; my God is a mighty rock where I can hide. "- Psalm 94:22 SET : I love college football and everything about it. I love watching a good offense, but there is nothing like a strong front line on the defensive side. There is nothing more intimidating to me than having a great front four who let nothing and no one advance down the field. They are the rock of their defense--a mighty fortress, so to speak. Nothing can penetrate them when the offense tries to advance. They stand firm. What an awesome sight it is to see nothing cross the line of defense. In 1529, Martin Luther penned what could have been the most powerful hymn ever written: "A Mighty Fortress is Our God. " You can find the words to this whole hymn by going to www.hymnsite.com . Luther wrote the hymn to honor and recognize the strength, power and might of our great God. In Verse 3 we sing: "And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, we ...

In Serious Jeopardy Monday, August 27th, 2007 READY: "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins. . .But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved." -Ephesians 2:1,4-5 SET: "You are now justifiably facing consequences for the decisions you made and the conduct in which you engaged. Your career, freedom and public standing are now in the most serious jeopardy." These stern words were written to NFL quarterback Michael Vick from the league's commissioner, Roger Goodell, after Vick agreed to plead guilty to select charges in a dog-fighting operation. Goodell suspended Vick indefinitely and without pay. Now reread those words ...

FCA Impact Play: "God's Playbook"

The FCA Impact Play is a almost daily devotional which is emailed to subscribers from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The FCA played a large role in helping me return to Christ. Receiving the Impact Play helped me to reignite my faith. I wanted to share today's with you. READY: "Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin ruleover me." -Psalm 119:133 SET : Most sports have a playbook or a set of rules to follow for their program. This book tells how things will be done on and off the fieldfor success in the system. As a player, if you follow theseguidelines, you should have success in the system. I recently heardone coach refert to his playbook as his "bible." Obviously, he highlyvalues the book. As we read through Psalm 119, we find many verses that reference God's word. The author of the Psalms repeated over and over that God's word guided him. He understood that God's word was the onlyplaybook he could follow that could giv...

FCA Impact Play: "Paid in Full"

The FCA Impact Play is a almost daily devotional which is emailed to subscribers from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The FCA played a large role in helping me return to Christ. Receiving the Impact Play helped me to reignite my faith. I wanted to share today's with you. READY: "And when you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trangressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way having nailed it to the cross."- Colossians 2:13-14 SET: A month ago, I received a letter from the American Honda Financial Corporation, the business from which I borrowed the money to pay for my car. The top line read, "OFFICIAL NOTICE THAT YOUR BALANCE HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL." Since I had purchased this car in September of 2006, I knew there was no way that my last payment had payed...
